How it's made
How we make the worked solutions
We publish worked solutions after each exam ends. Here is what happens between the end of the exam and the moment an answer appears on this site.
- The exam ends. Exam 1 ends at 10:15 am on Thursday 5 November. Exam 2 ends at 2:00 pm on Friday 6 November. We do not see the paper before then.
- We photograph the paper. A member of our team photographs a copy of the paper after the exam.
- AI drafts the solutions. AI models read the photographs and draft a worked solution for each part of each question.
- A teacher checks every final answer. A Methods teacher checks the final answer to every part before it appears. Until then, the part shows the question and the label "Being checked". We never show an unchecked answer.
- We publish part by part. Each part appears as soon as it is checked. We aim to start at about 11:15 am for Exam 1 and about 3:00 pm for Exam 2. These times are targets, not promises.
- We log every correction. If we find an error after a part appears, we fix it and mark the part "Corrected". We record the time and the change in the corrections log.
What the AI does and what the teacher does
AI writes the first draft of each solution, including the working. The teacher checks the final answer to every part. If you find a step in the working that looks wrong, tell us. We will check it and log any fix.
We use AI because it lets us publish within hours of the exam. The teacher's check is what stands between a draft and this site.
"Where students go wrong"
Some steps in the working have a marker. Open it to see a common error on that kind of question. Each note comes from VCAA examiner reports on similar questions in past exams, and it links to its source. A reviewer approves each note before it appears. The notes show errors students have made before. They do not tell you how this year's paper will be marked.
"Historical comparison"
Some parts have a card that shows how students across Victoria went on a similar question in a past year: the average mark and, where VCAA published it, how many students got each mark. Each card shows one year and links to the VCAA report it comes from. We never combine results from different years.
Calculator steps
For Exam 2, where a CAS calculator helps, we show the keystrokes and screens for the TI-Nspire CAS.
Score check
The score check takes your own estimate of your Exam 1 mark. It uses past VCAA grade distributions to estimate the Exam 2 mark you would need for each study score. Grade boundaries change every year, so the result is a rough guide, not a prediction. Your study score also depends on your school-assessed coursework.
Spot the exam error
Each question in this quiz is based on a real error found in a past VCAA paper. Each one names its source.
Who runs this site
Methods 2026 Answers is a small team. A VCE Methods teacher supplies the paper and checks the answers. Jordan builds the site. Nikhil looks after advertising.
Found an error?
Reply to any of our emails with the exam, the question and the part, for example "Exam 2, Question 3b". We read every message. Every fix appears in the corrections log.
